About 120-volt and 12-volt rope lights

These rope lights plug directly into any household electrical outlet, and are best suited for applications around the house.

They are available in lengths up to 30 feet, and can be spliced together for a maximum of 150 feet on one electrical outlet. For lengths over 150 feet, an additional outlet is required.
 

12- Volt Rope Light
These lights require a 12-Volt power supply, which is what a typical battery on a vehicle supplies. That makes these lights necessary for vehicle applications.

12-volt rope lighting can be incorporated in the home by installing a transformer to the outlet.

 

Incandescent Rope Light
Incandescent rope lights are available in lengths of up to 10 feet, with a maximum run of 30 feet.
